Rugged peaks tower next to lovely, forest covered hills, both hiding away idyllic mountain lakes. Stop and look around – take in breathtaking scenery and unspoilt nature. Our trekking route crosses the  Austrian Salzkammergut from West to East. Ten more or less famous lakes such as lake Wolfgangsee, Mondsee, Irrsee and Fuschlsee are part of this amazing tour. Stop at some of the best known highlights of the region: the ‘White Horse Inn’ in St. Wolfgang, the Imperial summer residence in Bad Ischl and the ‘most beautiful place on a lake’ Hallstatt are unforgetable highlights during your hike. A special excursion dips into the lovely Ausseerland, a gem of the Salzkammergut where time seems to pass slower than everywhere else.
You mainly walk along lakes and across alpine pastures. Several low summits offer scenic views and therefore you should be surefooted. A good fitness level for ascents and longer walking stages up to 6 hours are required.

Day 1: Individual journey to Fuschl am See
Day 2: Round trip to little lake Filblingsee & Fuschl castle
Short summit hike to lake Filbilingsee and across a ridge down to Fuschl castle. This castle served as a backdrop to the well known Sissi films. A comfortable walk along the lake takes you back to Fuschl.
Walking time: approx. 5.30 hrs, 15km, uphill/downhill hiking: +650/-650m.
Day 3: From Fuschl to Lake Mondsee
Step by step you climb to the ruin ‚Wartenfels’ with beautiful views of the lakes Mondsee and Irrsee. If you want, you can also climb the Schober peak. From here, you get a magnificent panoramic view of the lakes and mountains in the Salzkammergut region. Walking time approx. 4 to 5.30 hrs, 12km, uphill/downhill hiking: +630/-810m.
Day 4: From Lake Mondsee via Lake Attersee to Lake Wolfgangsee
In the morning you go by bus to Unterach at lake Attersee. From there you follow the lakeside walk and through the Burggrabenklamm up to alpine pastures to idyllic lake Schwarzensee. Stop for some homemade pastries at Lore’s cabin on the lake. Continue downhill to lake Wolfgangsee. Walking time: approx. 5 hrs, 15km, uphill/downhill hiking: +400/-350m.
Day 5: From Lake Wolfgangsee to Bad Ischl
Along the lake through the natural reserve Blinklingmoos with views across the lake onto St. Wolfgang and the remarkable peaks of the Schafberg mountain. After that you follow the gushing waters of river Ischl and on the Sissi trail to tiny lake Nussensee close to the Imperial summer residence Bad Ischl. Walking time approx. 5,30 hrs, 19km, uphill/downhill hiking: +200/-250m.
Day 6: From Bad Ischl to Ausseerland
Along the historic brine pipeline trail you walk into Rettenbach valley and up to alpine pasture Blaa alp at the foot of the Loser massif into the Ausseerland. Walking time approx. 5 hrs, 18km, uphill/downhill hiking: +500/-250m.
Day 7: From Ausseerland to Hallstatt
Along the river banks of the Traun the  path leads to the traditional summer holiday place Bad Aussee and then through the wild and idyllic Koppental valley where you can visit the Koppenbruehler caves. Take the boat to the world heritage town Hallstatt with its many sights. Walking time: approx. 6 hrs, 22km, uphill/downhill hiking: +200/-400m.
Day 8: Round trip Hallstätter Salzberg & Lake Gosausee
