”Island of Beauty” – true to the name given to Corsica by the Greeks, the island combines dramatic coastline and sandy beaches with snow-capped mountains and forests of chestnut and laricio pine. Being the third largest island in the Mediterranean after Sicily and Sardinia, Corsica breaks through the waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea just southeast of mainland France. There are five classic walks in Corsica that snake around the foot of the massifs. Leading through forests and villages, they offer breath-taking views over the mountain tops and out to sea. As you discover stunning landscapes, you will walk through a series of villages that are a joy to discover.
The “Mare a Mare North” path is a distinct favourite, allowing you to enjoy all the contrasts and colours of the island. The Mare a Mare North, is one of our favourite walking tours in Corsica. Your holiday begins in Corte, at the very heart of the island and ends in the outstandingly beautiful Gulf of Porto. You will cross the region of Niolu with its pretty villages. En route there will be opportunities to bathe in the numerous crystal clear rock pools, as you make your way across mountain rivers. Your trek finishes in Piana, an area on the coast of exceptional beauty. The “Calanques de Piana” has been named a UNESCO world heritage site

Day 1 – Corte
The point of departure for your trip is the city of Corte, in the centre of Corsica. Take your time to discover the citadelle, perched high upon a rocky crag, a defiant spectacle of Corsican patriotism. Visit the Museu di a Corsica, which charts the fascinating and turbulent history of the island, as well as spend time wandering about the many shops, cafes and bars. Your dinner is not included so feel free to choose from one of the many restaurants.
Day 2 - Scala Santa Regina
After a short transfer from Corte, you will be in the heart of the Scala Santa Régina gorge. The cliffs overlooking the Golo river offer splendid views. You will take an old mule path to your next stop by the Calacuccia lake.
