Spend four days following the trails used by locals to get to the beaches and hot fishing spots, walking from one fishing village to the next along the cliffs and through the dunes, witnessing the harsh coastal scenery and the wild and powerful natural landscape in what is the largest coastal natural park in Europe.
Each night will be spent at a different family owned/managed guest house or small hotel in bedrooms with en-suite facilities.

Rota Vicentina, known as the Fishermen's Way is a single track along the cliffs which can only be traveled by foot, and more demanding from a physical point of view. A challenge to a permanent contact with the ocean winds, the harsh coastal scenery and the wild and powerful natural landscape. Most days include short steep ascents from beach to cliffs. At times, tide levels will affect your route and make it necessary to walk some sections inland. The terrain is relatively flat with some scratchy vegetation or slightly overgrown areas inland.

Day 1: After transferring from Lisbon airport or Faro airport in the Algarve you will spend the first night in the coastal Alentejo village of Porto Covo at a family owned inn “Ze Inacio”, in the centre of the village.
Day 2: After breakfast at your guest house, a representative of our local partners in the in the Alentejo, will meet you to answer any last minute questions before you set off on your first walk, a 20 km (6-7 hours) hike starting from the northernmost point of the Fishermen's Trail in Porto Covo heading south to Vila Nova de Milfontes. This is a fairly strenuous stage with several kilometres over loose sand. The trail heads south along the beach to reach the Forte da Ilha de Dentro overlooking the island of Pessegueiro. The trail then continues through the dunes behind the spectacular surf beaches, Aivados and Malhao before reaching the cliff tops, popular with sea anglers. The trail takes you past Vila Nova de Milfontes' small fishing port before heading into the village to the old historic centre of the village passing the Forte Clemente.
Day 3: A 16 km (4-5 hours) easy walk on the Fishermen's Trail along the coast with the path winding through pine forests, sand dunes and along cliff tops. From Furnas award winning beach you can look back at the view of Vila Nova de Milfontes, the “Princess of the Alentejo”.
You will pass some deserted beaches before arriving at the tiny village of Almograve.
Day 4: A 21km (6-7 hours) walk heading south from Almograve above the beach, where you can make a short detour to the little fishing harbour Lapa das Pombas. The trail continues along the cliffs with panoramic views of the dunes. Storks can be seen nesting on the cliffs along this route. The trail then passes through the village of Cavaleiro and past the historic lighthouse of Cabo Sard–≥o, before ending the day in Zambujeira do Mar.
Day 5: An 18 km (5-6 hours) walk along a coastal path, passing along the cliff tops above the beaches leading into Carvalhal bay.  Then, on through farmland and woodland to the Praia da Amalia, where a stream cascades down onto the beach, before reaching Azenha do Mar. Perhaps you will want to try an amazing seafood meal (the fishing harbour is only 100 meters from the restaurant) as a change from your picnic lunch. After this you will head towards the Ceixe river estuary and reach Odeceixe the first village on the Algarve's west coast where you will spend the night at a small guest house,
Day 6: Your tour ends here after breakfast.
